I was listening to the podcast and heard Adam talking about his uncle Ralph. I thought it might be interesting to know more about the man. Since I also have an interest in history and WWII history in particular.

I did a simple Google search on "ralph carollo". I found nothing much of interest. Which is too bad, because I wanted to maybe get a good war story. Despite not finding a war story I did find 1) a mention of a Ralph Carollo's war stories being stored in the Library of congress and 2) an address and a google map entry for Ralph in Philledelphia -- kind of scary how easy it is to find this stuff these days using the internet. I didn't want to get into stalker territory on the guy, I was hoping there might be a record somewhere of war stories mentioned online with citations.
Does anybody else care about this?

Scroll down a little to find his reference or search (ctrl + f) on "ralph carollo." Do you think that this is the Ralph that is Adam's uncle?

Perhaps you should google the name spelled correctly? Just a suggestion.

Google has 3 listings for "Ralph Carolla" from the PA area. Two are from a pay site, the other one is an obit from an in-law.

His given name might not have been Ralph, but something Itallian that was shortened to/knicknamed Ralph

Perhaps you should turn on your radio. a solid 5 minutes of that segment was about his dad's brother going by the original name, "Carollo."

Thanks for trying to make me feel bad. But, I went and re-listened to that segment on the podcast and verified that Adam's uncle went by "Carollo." Maybe there's a small child somewhere that you can try and insult. Thanks again.

Guys, I saw the smoke from the topic list, is everything okay?

No, it's fine. I think we can play together without any more fighting (I could be wrong).

My laziness is taking over. The need to find out more about Ralph Carollo is being eclipsed by the amount of effort required to do so. I hope that Adam maybe finds out a little more and if anything interesting turns up that he shares it on-air.

Did we ever find out anything more about the sword or those swords? If they are authentic hand-forged Japanese swords they could be pretty valuable. But an awful lot of such swords from WWII were factory steel (gunto) look alikes.

It does indeed make my head hurt to think of someone not tearing that box open. Not only would I be interested in the swords as historical objects I'd be playing with the damn things all day.

Same here. I would kill for an authentic WWII Japanese officer's sword. And when I say "I would kill", that's not alliteration.

My jealousy for Adam reached a new height when he said he was getting one from his uncle.

The world is your oyster....because that's all the world is.

Teresa mentioned this, but it wasn't addressed. If I were Adam's sister, I'd be pretty annoyed I didn't get one! I can understand Adam's dad thinking it more of something to give to his son, but I'd still want one! Even if she's not that interested, she has sons, doesn't she?

You're right... that is not alliteration. (But it might be hyperbole.)

You might try "I'd kill Carolla for Corporal Carollo's katana." for alliteration.
