Am I the only one NOT getting the Barry Katz love? All Jay does is gush about how NO ONE on the Internet hates this guy....and while I don't hate him, the couple of times I've heard him I'm not knocked over with the level of incredible he supposedly brings with Jay.

He sounds like he is a parody of one of Jay's many f'd out impressions. "Now let me tell you, and I'm not afraid to say this, you have to be undeniable. When you're undeniable, you cannot be denied. I've told you this, you've not denied it, it's undeniable."

Every story I've heard him tell is painted as some moving, moral-filled narrative where he feels that he is just toying with the listener as he slowly gets to the end. There's always some bigger meaning to his stories. Deep stuff. I mean he consistently allows wild birds in his house....his amazing young son caught one....Katz then forgets to completely lock up his dog, who then chomps the bird to death right out of his young son's hand. I can't even start to tell you how incredibly pointed and moving this story was, and the number of things to take away from it (both literally and symbolically) are just too many to post here. At least according to Katz. The guy sounds ALMOST as pleased with his stories as Adam peppering us with observations he's jotted down while being waterboarded in first class. Almost.

Anyway, back to Jay. Listen back to any Adam-Eisen podcast "interview", then listen to Mohr's most recent podcast (which was a sitdown with Rich). There IS NO BIGGER EGOMANIAC than Jay Mohr, and he actually did a hummingbird's heartbeat of prep, pulled amusing stories out of Rich, and made for a SOLID and entertaining interview. So rather than excuse Adam's deficiencies as an interviewer as a byproduct of his narcissism, let's just agree that he just blows at interviewing people. I'd argue that Jay and Adam are on par as far as ego and narcissistic mania goes....yet Jay is able to somehow balance Jay stories AND talking TO the guest (not AT the guest).

I've heard many comedians talk about what a scummy guy Katz is for years on others shows. And nearly everyone he's represented has fired him including Dane Cook.

As a society...

Definitely agree, 1780s- I also never cared for the Katz episodes. Maybe the first one was a little interesting because it was a bunch of silly background on him like all the people who fired him, and I plan on listening to this newest one where they talk about the ACEnetards, but Katz isn't an especially entertaining guy and it seems like Jay's purpose most of the time is to set up a bunch of stories about himself, which is one of the things that drive me away from the podcast.

This podcast isn't very listener-friendly. They talk shop as if there isn't an audience that's waiting for a fuckin anecdote to start and finish. They keep trailing off into more and more trivial behind-the-scenes shit that only the concerned parties would be interested in.

I got the impression that this was a relatively quick window, maybe 4 or 5 days.

Thats not comparable to the many month saga of Kevin Smith. And we determined that that was really about Kevin being butt hurt about Poddammit rather than any of the fake reasons Kevin was putting out.

Even though we know Adam doesn't get back to people you are going to stick with it being Smith's fault? Dense.

Holy hell...

I really find Jay entertaining even though he does Harvey Keitel way too often (and oddly I rarely get tired of Walken) and he is funny just talking to his producer... and I really do not find Ralphie May as entertaining, but when you put these two idiots together and they start telling tales out of school... Like Barry Katz says... "its magic" (man)

such as: That Big Ex-Con "Spanish-American" Mafia guy on PCP who kicked Jay's dog and the fight was on.... the later Raphie goes to Guam and peels out of the airport line to pet the drug sniffing dog and even though I heard a version of this before (probably on Adams show) it was funnier with Jay because the crack each other up

and some gratuitous ball washing

This is one of those podcasts where I just keep it in my feed and select the ones with people I like, such as, Mike Catherwood, Alonzo Bodden, John Heffron. Other than that this podcast is pretty forgettable
